But bad game design does not have to be exploitative to be bad. Now, to be clear, I do not believe that Dragonball Legends is explotative in any way. Namely, the promise that you'll be able to fight with the characters you love from the show. The long and short of it is that this game does not fulfill the core promise that I expect to be fulfilled from a Dragonball game. There are many negatives about Dragonball Legends, and I'd like to go through all of them in this post, because they could all be easily remedied if the designers of this game cared to do so. However, these positives were not enough to keep me playing the game. It has very good production value for a mobile game, some remarkably in-depth mechanics and systems, and genuinely great design elements all around.
